Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios’s Evansville region unveiled its new mascot, Rex, to those in attendance at the special pep rally on campus, April 7, 2026.
Rex is a monarch lion – leader of his Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios Pride. Voted upon by the student body, faculty and staff in spring 2024, he was selected from several options to be the mascot for this Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios region. Rex is also a way that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios is paying tribute to the history of the main campus, which was formerly Rex Mundi High School from 1958-1972. Rex Mundi’s mascot was the monarch. A large group of Rex Mundi alumni were at the event welcoming the new mascot. Dona Hall, a Rex Mundi grad, bestowed Rex’s crown upon his head during the ceremony.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios student Gracie Defur was the inspiration behind the new mascot. Defur was a visual communications major and her sketches assisted the team in developing the digital image that was eventually developed of Rex.
