The College Financing Plan (CFP) provides a summary of your estimated costs, financial aid eligibility, and other financial resources for the academic year. The CFP does not feature specific financial aid award names and amounts. You may view these at any time by visiting , selecting My Financial Aid, and choosing the appropriate aid year.

WHAT ACADEMIC YEAR DOES MY CFP COVER?

Each CFP will include estimated enrollment costs and financial aid eligibility for up to one full academic year. Each academic year corresponds to an “aid year” that spans the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters (For example, the 2025-2026 aid year includes the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters.). Students attending less than a full academic year will have their CFP adjusted to reflect a shorter enrollment period.

WHO RECEIVES A COLLEGE FINANCING PLAN?

CFPs are provided to students who have been awarded at least one type of financial aid or resource (i.e. grants, scholarships, military and veteran’s benefits, employer tuition reimbursement, etc.). CFPs will be updated each time costs and/or financial resources change. Students will be notified by email whenever a CFP is updated.

WHY DON’T I HAVE A COLLEGE FINANCING PLAN?

If you are expecting a CFP but do not have one, here are a few potential reasons:

  • Missing or Incomplete FAFSA – Most financial aid programs require a FAFSA for the corresponding aid year (excludes some, but not all, military programs, employer sponsored resources, and outside scholarships). To complete, update (including the addition of ĢƵios’s school code 009917), or check on a FAFSA, visit the .
  • Incomplete Financial Aid Requirements – Students required to complete additional steps will be notified via their ĢƵios email. These requirements are also viewable on MyIvy.
  • Incorrect Aid Year – Ensure that you are viewing the correct aid year for your expected enrollment.
  • Incomplete Requirements for Military Benefits – Requirements for military benefits vary by program. Students expecting one of these benefits should explore VA Education Benefits and Active Military Benefits requirements for more information.

If you are unsure why you do not have a CFP, call 888-IVY-LINE or chat online at ivytech.edu/chat. Phone and chat support are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

How to Read Your College Financing Plan - Section by Section

  1. The information on the CFP is current as of the date at the top. Award amounts may change based on updates to your eligibility, enrollment status, or other factors. If awards change after the date shown, students will be notified, and the CFP will be updated accordingly.
  2. The Estimated Cost of Attendance is based on estimated expenses for your expected enrollment over the aid year. These estimated amounts include expenses that would be billed by ĢƵios, such as tution, fees, and some textbooks. Other estimated amounts include indirect expenses not billed by Ivy Tech, such as transportation, food and housing, and other education-related personal expenses. Your financial aid cannot exceed these Cost of Attendance figures. Visit /tuition-aid/full-cost-of-attendance/ for more information.
  3. Your Student Aid Index (SAI) is a formula-based index number ranging from –1500 to 999,999. It is calculated from your FAFSA and used to determine your financial aid eligibility and amounts. Lower SAI numbers (including negatives) indicate higher financial need. It is not equivalent to a dollar amount of aid you will receive, nor does it indicate what you or your family is expected to pay toward your education. Visit for more information on SAI and how it is calculated.
  4. The Scholarships section includes gift aid that is awarded based on merit. In this case, merit-based scholarships are not based on financial need, but are instead awarded particular scholarship requirements—including, but not limited to—past academic performance, community involvement, employment, fields of study, and more. Scholarships may be awarded by ĢƵios, the State of Indiana, external organizations, and employers.
  5. The Grants section includes need-based aid that is awarded based on need, as determined by the FAFSA (see Note #3 for more information on SAI). This aid includes the Federal Pell Grant and Indiana state grants. Exception: Awards for the Workforce Ready Grant and CVO programs are listed under State Grants in the CFP, even though they are not based on SAI and are not considered need-based aid.
  6. VA Education Benefits include VA-administered programs such as GI Bill. This does not include Indiana programs such as CVO or the National Guard Supplemental Grant.
  7. This section indicates the difference between Estimated Cost of Attendance and total estimated financial aid. It does not represent any specific balances due to the college (see #2 for more information on Estimated Cost of Attendance.).
  8. Students who have been offered a loan will see it in this section. For more information on student loans or to request a student loan, visit /tuition-aid/financial-aid/loans/
  9. Some students may have been pre-awarded Federal Work-Study for the upcoming year based on meeting some eligibility criteria. If you were not offered work-study, you may still be eligible. Visit /tuition-aid/financial-aid/work-study/ for more information on the Federal Work-Study Program at ĢƵios and contact your local ĢƵios campus to learn about available work study positions.
  10. If additional payment arrangements are needed, visit /tuition-aid/payments/payment-plans/ or contact your campus Business Office to discuss your options.
  11. Your local campus Financial Aid Office contact information is displayed.
  12. As indicated in #8, the Loan Amounts fields will only be populated for students who have been offered a student loan.
