Catapult Indiana Training

Catapult Indiana is a fast-paced, hands-on training program designed to prepare individuals for entry-level careers in the advanced manufacturing industry. Over the course of 160 hours, participants gain a strong foundation in production principles, manufacturing tools and technologies, and essential workplace behaviors. Through a combination of classroom instruction, lab simulations, and practical exercises, learners build the skills necessary to succeed in modern manufacturing environments. This program serves as a direct on-ramp to employment, with the added benefit of college credit crosswalks for those who choose to pursue a degree. In partnership with Conexus Indiana.

This advanced manufacturing standardized work training covers nine primary topics with equal focus on theory and lab/simulation in production fundamentals.

  • Describe the manufacturing orientation process and expectations for new employees.
  • Explain the principles and benefits of Lean manufacturing compared to traditional methods.
  • Apply basic continuous improvement strategies within a production setting.
  • Use critical thinking to define and solve common workplace problems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of workplace safety practices, including OSHA environmental awareness.
  • Identify characteristics of effective teams and contribute to positive group dynamics.
  • Exhibit professional behavior in areas such as teamwork, work ethic, and conflict resolution.
  • Participate in a simulated production environment and apply conflict management techniques.
  • Perform foundational assembly tasks using proper tools, techniques, and sequencing.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Use measurement tools accurately to ensure product quality and compliance.
  • Understand the relationship between quality, cost, safety, and operational performance.
  • Apply physical wellness strategies to improve workplace agility, dexterity, and injury prevention.

The program consists of 160 hours of classroom instruction covering relevant theory, hands-on training with tools and equipment, and simulations. Training includes Pre and Post-test evaluations conducted during class sessions with a 70% pass rate needed for a certificate of completion. This training lasts 4 weeks (160 instructional hours) and classes are offered during the day. This class is 50% instructor-led and 50% lab/field work.

Participants are paid for their time spent in classroom-based training for the 160 hours of training at $10.00 per hour, subsidized by local companies with the commitment of an internship.
