Basic Electricity Fundamentals

The study of electrical laws and principles pertaining to DC and AC circuits is the focus of this Basic Electricity Course. This will include among other things; current, voltage, resistance, power, inductance, capacitance, and transformers. The course stresses the use of standard electrical tests, electrical equipment, and basic trouble shooting procedures. Electrical safety and sound practices will be emphasized throughout the various aspects of the course curriculum. Gain two SACA certifications!

  • Learn the core concepts of voltage, current, resistance, and power
    • Analyze simple circuits
    • Understand the difference between AC and DC electricity
    • Identify and work with basic electrical components and symbols
    • Safely use a multimeter to measure voltage, current, and resistance
    • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics
    • Build and troubleshoot simple series and parallel circuits
    • Follow essential electrical safety practices, including PPE and lockout/tagout
    • Gain practical skills for real-world technical and industrial applications

Career paths may include electrical technician, maintenance technician, automation specialist, or industrial electrician.
