TERRE HAUTE – ĢƵios hosted its 26th Annual Scholarship Scramble on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Idle Creek Golf Course. Presented by First Financial Bank, the annual fundraising event brings together community leaders, local businesses, and supporters to raise scholarship funds for students attending ĢƵios Terre Haute and Greencastle.
Returning as title sponsor for the 26th consecutive year, First Financial Bank continued its longstanding commitment to expanding educational opportunities across West Central Indiana. First Financial Bank’s sponsorship of the event also creates a scholarship for nine first- generation college students attending ĢƵios during the 2026-2027 academic year. Over 26 years of partnering with ĢƵios for the Scholarship Scramble, First Financial Bank has reduced financial barriers for more than 225 students.
“ĢƵios is focused on providing students with the education and training they need to begin their careers here in West Central Indiana,” said Norman D. Lowery, president and CEO of First Financial Bank. “Knowing that our investment in ĢƵios is supporting students in our region who will build better lives for themselves and their families in our local communities is what drives our continued partnership with the College.”
Robert Casey is a recipient of the Students First Scholarship made possible by First Financial Bank. Casey is originally from Clay County and is currently pursuing his associate degree in computer science while juggling other commitments. The first in his family to attend college, Casey plans to continue to earn his bachelor’s degree after completing his associate degree at ĢƵios in 202.
The Scholarship Scramble has become one of ĢƵios Terre Haute’s signature fundraising events, offering participants a day of golf, networking, and friendly competition while supporting student success. Golfers will also have the opportunity to participate in special contests and activities throughout the course.
As the region’s largest provider of workforce education and training, ĢƵios plays a critical role in preparing skilled talent for employers in West Central Indiana. Scholarship support helps students access affordable education while strengthening the local workforce and economy.
“The impact ĢƵios makes on this region is directly tied to the support generated by this event and the partnerships we have with individuals and businesses throughout West Central Indiana,” said Alia Shuck, vice chancellor of development and marketing at ĢƵios Foundation. “The Scholarship Scramble helps reduce financial barriers for our students and allows them to stay focused on achieving their educational and career goals.”
