Horizon Education Alliance (HEA), a nonprofit dedicated to connecting schools, businesses, and the community to build a stronger regional workforce, announced today that it will relocate its main office from downtown Goshen to the ĢƵios Elkhart County campus at 22531 County Road 18, Goshen, effective July 1, 2026.

HEA's CareerWise apprenticeship program team and career coaching staff — the youth-facing side of the organization's career pathways focus — will move to the ĢƵios Elkhart County campus, placing them physically alongside one of our region’s key post-secondary education partners. HEA's Adult Pathways education programs will remain at their current Elkhart location at 1396 Benham Ave, Suite A, Elkhart, with opportunities to provide adult education services at the ĢƵios campus as well, to better reach individuals across Elkhart County.

"This move is a statement about the direction of our future work," said Sarah Metzler, President and CEO of Horizon Education Alliance. "By locating our main services on the ĢƵios campus, we're opening up opportunities to expand the impact of our work. Our partnership with ĢƵios enables us to better connect our K-12 and adult career-connected learning programming to post-secondary coursework, credentials, and pathways.

A Partnership Built Over Years

HEA and ĢƵios South Bend-Elkhart have collaborated for years on initiatives designed to prepare individuals at every stage of life for career success. Those efforts include partnership with HEA’s career exploration events, collaborative design and delivery of related instruction components for youth apprenticeships, use of space for hosting and co-hosting professional development and training events, and alignment around services for adult learners in our county.

HEA’s new location at the ĢƵios campus deepens the collaborative relationship, creating new opportunities for coordinated programming, coordinated resources, and a more unified experience for students, job seekers, and community members who interact with both organizations.

"At ĢƵios, we believe strong communities are built through access to education, workforce opportunity, and meaningful partnerships,” said Patrick Englert, Chancellor of ĢƵios South Bend-Elkhart. “We are excited to welcome Horizon Education Alliance to our Elkhart County campus and support their continued work to strengthen educational attainment, economic mobility, and workforce success across the region."

Advancing HEA's Mission and Vision

The relocation reflects HEA's broader strategic direction. The organization's mission — to connect schools, businesses, and the community to increase educational attainment, strengthen the workforce, and ensure every individual succeeds — calls for the kind of deep partnerships this move represents.

“We have valued the opportunity to be in downtown Goshen for our first 13 years and express our thanks to the City of Goshen.” Metzler said. “As we embark on our next chapter, we look forward to continuing to serve Elkhart County and to expanding our career-focused services into a broader regional footprint. We are grateful for the opportunity to draw on ĢƵios’s regional expertise to continue advancing strong career-connected learning opportunities across the region.”

HEA's Adult Pathways team, which provides adult education and high school equivalency programs, will continue to serve individuals from its Elkhart location and will have a presence at the ĢƵios campus to extend its reach to residents across Elkhart County who may find the County Road 18 campus more accessible.
