ĢƵios’s Indianapolis campus is taking significant steps to earn the prestigious designation from the State of Indiana. This initiative recognizes institutions that provide exceptional support to veterans and military-affiliated families in their pursuit of higher education. The Indianapolis campus has formed a dedicated committee to lead these efforts, emphasizing a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for military-connected students.

The designation process is part of a tiered system, with Tier 1 representing the highest level of recognition. Jason Rodriguez, assistant director of Veteran and Military Services at ĢƵios Indianapolis, is playing a crucial role in this initiative.

“It sets a good benchmark for what students can expect from ĢƵios,” Rodriguez explained. “I hope this designation helps students understand what ĢƵios is doing and can offer them as they make the choice to enroll.”

To achieve this designation, ĢƵios must meet criteria across eight categories, including marketing and communication, student support services, and career and community engagement. Efforts already underway include hosting annual military recognition events, maintaining a dedicated Veterans Resource Center, and fostering a Student Veterans Association to build community among military-affiliated students. These initiatives, alongside tailored admissions, financial aid guidance, and career support, align with ĢƵios’s mission of student success already.

The Indianapolis campus committee, which includes Rodriguez and other campus representatives, is collaborating with statewide teams to ensure readiness for the application.

As ĢƵios progresses toward this goal, the initiative reflects its broader commitment to recognizing and supporting the unique needs of veterans and military families. This effort ensures that military-connected students receive the resources and support they deserve – from enrollment to graduation.
