ĢƵios celebrated a momentous occasion on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis to commemorate the College's 60th Anniversary Gala.
It was an evening full of honoring individuals who have excelled in their careers and made significant contributions to their communities and the College. The ceremony recognized 19 Distinguished Alumni and 18 Benefactors who embody the spirit of ĢƵios's mission to transform lives through education.
Among the distinguished honorees was Amber Coryell, who stands out as an exceptional ĢƵios Indianapolis alumna!
In 2010, Coryell became a first-generation graduate of Ivy Indy, earning her associate degree in business administration. Driven by her passion for learning and determination to broaden her horizons, Coryell pursued a bachelor's degree in tourism, conventions, and event management at Indiana University - Indianapolis.
Coryell's unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth has been the key to her success. She not only balanced a full-time job with her studies but also proactively sought opportunities for internships and community engagement to develop her skills and expertise. After years of dedication and hard work, Coryell secured a career in finance, specializing in business development.
“You go to school having dreams – you have hopes and dreams – and ĢƵios gives us the ability to do that. It’s never too late to do what you want to do with your life, and there are so many walks of life on [the Indianapolis] campus and all the other [ĢƵios] campuses,” Coryell said.
Coryell's influence extends far beyond her job title. She actively participates in numerous boards, committees, and councils, leveraging her valuable insights and experiences to contribute to organizations such as ĢƵios Alumni, Friends of Riley, and Indy Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). Through these roles, she advocates for positive change and champions the causes she believes in.
Coryell's journey showcases the transformative power of dedication and hard work, and the profound impact of ĢƵios's commitment to providing accessible education. ĢƵios has empowered many like Coryell to achieve their dreams and transform their lives through education.
Coryell says, “I’m proud to be an ĢƵios alum because I now get to give back to the student that used to be me.”
