Ģ����Ƶios’s Bloomington campus has been named to the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. This is the seventh year Ģ����Ƶios-Bloomington has been awarded. The Honor Roll’s Presidential Award is the highest federal recognition an institution can receive for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. Ģ����Ƶios-Bloomington was among 766 schools to be selected nationwide.

“Ģ����Ƶios-Bloomington is thrilled to once again be recognized for our dedication to giving back to the communities we serve,” said Chelsea Rood-Emmick, Executive Director of Civic Engagement. “Every year, service-learning and volunteer activities are tracked through our Center for Civic Engagement. We’re sure there are more projects and volunteer hours that go unreported, but our efforts are energized by the data that shows we’ve contributed more than $1.25M in service to our local communities.”

Ģ����Ƶios’s Bloomington campus reported 16,991 volunteer hours in 2013 and 2014. This year, Ģ����Ƶios offered 99 service-learning courses for students through 167 sections. 2,532 students enrolled in service-learning courses logged 43,400 hours of service in the Bloomington community.

In a dollar figure based on national volunteer averages from Independent Sector (), the total economic contribution of Ģ����Ƶios’s 60,391 combined service learning and volunteer hours is $1,337,056.74

The Center for Civic Engagement () was established at Ģ����Ƶios’s Bloomington campus in 2004 to bring focus to individual volunteerism, service-learning in the classroom, and community involvement. The Center for Civic Engagement is also the host of community engagement programs like Ģ����Ƶios-Bloomington’s O’Bannon Institute for Community Service held each spring.
