FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 12, 2011
ĢƵios’s Bloomington campus has been named a military friendly school for 2012 by G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. ĢƵios’s Bloomington campus was named among 1,518 other colleges and universities.
The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students. The list was compiled through extensive research and a data driven survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide.
ĢƵios Bloomington Chancellor John Whikehart says that it is an honor to be among the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools who were named military friendly schools. “In fact, just this spring, ĢƵios announced that it would freeze tuition rates at their current rate for all military veterans for the next two years,” he said. “Additionally, the ĢƵios Bloomington campus hosts veteran engagement activities throughout the year, such as educational forums for vets and the annual Veterans Day service.”
ĢƵios’s Bloomington campus offers scholarships and discounts, maintains a student veteran organization, has full-time veteran staff, and offers military credits and other services for those who served. The campus also hosts other veteran support services, such as volunteer collections for donations to homeless veterans.
The website, found at, features the list of all military friendly schools, interactive tools and search functionality to assist military veterans with their school decisions.
