Terre Haute | Greencastle, Ind. — ĢƵios Terre Haute/Greencastle’s impact on the region adds more than $162 million in income through its students, alumni, and operations. That’s equal to nearly 2,200 jobs supported in West Central Indiana.
The overall impact of ĢƵios was cited in a new Lightcast report on the economic value of the College, measured during Fiscal Year 2024-2025. The report found that ĢƵios's statewide impact adds more than $4.8 billion in income through its students, alumni, and campus operations throughout the state. That’s equal to more than 63,000 jobs supported – or one out of every 67 jobs in the state.
“ĢƵios is a powerful engine for economic growth in West Central Indiana—delivering real returns for our students, our workforce partners, and our communities,” said Lea Anne Crooks, chancellor of ĢƵios Terre Haute/Greencastle. “We are proud to help Hoosiers gain the skills and confidence to build stronger futures.”
The report found that for every $1 invested in ĢƵios Terre Haute/Greencastle, taxpayers get a $1.50 return, and that further benefits are reflected in the lifestyle improvements that come with added skills and education. Students can get a $4.90 return for every dollar spent by earning more over their lifetimes, and society can get an $8 return on each dollar through increased income and social savings.
“We know that more education and skills lead to better and higher-paying jobs, and that is a key mission for ĢƵios as Indiana’s workforce engine,” ĢƵios President Marty Pollio said.
As ĢƵios’s fourth annual day of giving, known as ĢƵios Day, approaches on April 21, this report reinforces the value ĢƵios Terre Haute/Greencastle has on the region.
“This report makes it clear—an investment in ĢƵios Terre Haute delivers a powerful return, not just for our students, but for taxpayers, employers, and our entire region,” said Alia Shuck, vice chancellor of development and marketing at ĢƵios Terre Haute/Greencastle. “On April 21, donors have a unique opportunity to come together and be part of that impact, helping us expand access, strengthen our workforce, and drive economic growth that benefits us all.”
The report includes a breakdown of ĢƵios’s impact on the county service areas of each of its 19 campuses.
