GREENCASTLE, Ind. – ĢƵios is proud to collaborate with North Putnam High School to offer a unique associate degree completion pathway for high school students. This innovative program allows eligible students to earn an associate of general studies degree before graduating high school, at no cost to them.
The program is open to students enrolled in courses that align with the Indiana College Core (ICC). The ICC consists of 30 credit hours of general education, college-level coursework that seamlessly transfers across all Indiana public colleges and universities. At North Putnam High School, students can complete the required ICC courses. To earn an associate degree in general studies from ĢƵios, students must complete an additional 30 credit hours beyond the ICC. All courses that are part of the associate degree pathway are offered at North Putnam High School and count as both high school and ĢƵios credit.
“We’ve worked closely with ĢƵios to create a pathway that enables students to complete their associate degree before they even walk across the stage at their high school graduation,” said Dustin LeMay, superintendent of North Putnam Community Schools. “This partnership with ĢƵios provides a truly unique opportunity for our students.”
ĢƵios is the largest accredited community college in the nation. With more than 89,000 high school students currently enrolled in college-credit courses statewide, ĢƵios has saved Indiana families nearly $87 million dollars in tuition. Plus, ĢƵios credits transfer to more than 100 four-year universities in Indiana and beyond.
“We’re grateful to work with North Putnam High School’s leadership to offer this incredible opportunity,” said Tammy Keenan, site director at ĢƵios Greencastle. “Dual credit and dual enrollment programs at ĢƵios provide high school students with a head start in their education while saving money. Students can continue their education or enter the workforce right after graduation. This is an opportunity no student should miss.”
