ĢƵios Terre Haute Celebrates Faculty Member Scott Powell, Ph.D., Recipient of ĢƵios’s 2024 President's Spirit of Diversity Award
TERRE HAUTE – ĢƵios Terre Haute is proud to announce that Scott Powell, Ph.D., has been selected as a recipient of ĢƵios’s 2024 President's Spirit of Diversity Award. This prestigious award honors a faculty or staff member whose service is inspired by William "Bill" Goin's dedication to advancing diversity and who goes beyond their regular duties to contribute significantly to the development of diverse and equitable campus communities.
Powell, ĢƵios Terre Haute’s program chair and professor of social sciences, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive environment at ĢƵios Terre Haute. His active involvement in the diversity committee and his participation in numerous events have greatly contributed to the campus’ mission of promoting diversity, equity, and belonging.
“We are thrilled to recognize Dr. Powell with the President’s Spirit of Diversity Award,” said Lea Anne Crooks, Ph.D., chancellor of ĢƵios Terre Haute. “His knowledge and dedication have significantly enriched our campus community, bringing a deeper cultural understanding and historical perspective through education.”
Powell’s service and dedication to diversity are a testament to the values embodied by the President’s Spirit of Diversity Award. His work ensures that ĢƵios Terre Haute remains a vibrant and equitable environment where all students and staff feel valued. Powell’s service was recognized at the Spirit of Diversity Dinner last month.
