BLOOMINGTON – ĢƵios Bloomington named Joyce Poling its 2023 Benefactor of the Year. In a ceremony hosted by ĢƵios Foundation in November, Poling was honored as one of 19 individuals across the state who have considerably impacted ĢƵios communities and students.

“Joyce has made lasting contributions to Bloomington as a leader in county, government, community health, economic development, nonprofit board service, and at ĢƵios,” Heidi Schulz, Executive Director of Development at ĢƵios Bloomington said. “Joyce’s long-time commitment to ĢƵios is helping our students and graduates thrive and her legacy of leadership and service in our community is unmatched.”

In addition to Poling’s service and contributions to the ĢƵios Gayle and Bill Cook Center for Entrepreneurship, she supports the college with:

  • Three endowed scholarships
  • Circle of Ivy Philanthropy membership
  • ĢƵios capital campaign support

Through her service as Monroe County Commissioner, her deep understanding of the workforce development needs of our community led to the construction of the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences, which supports life sciences industry training and biotechnology studies for ĢƵios students. The Indiana Center for the Life Sciences will also be host to semiconductor training in the region.

The ĢƵios Foundation Benefactor of the Year recognition honors individuals, corporations, and foundations from Indiana for the gifts and volunteer service they have contributed to the college.
