BLOOMINGTON – ĢƵios Bloomington has named Bill C. Brown its 2024 Benefactor of the Year. Brown is one of 19 individuals across the state, selected by ĢƵios Foundation, that has considerably impacted ĢƵios communities and students.

“Bill has been a longtime friend and ambassador of ĢƵios,” Heidi Schulz, executive director of development at ĢƵios Bloomington said. “He believes in our mission and our work and has committed to ĢƵios’s success in myriad ways. He absolutely personifies philanthropy.”

In addition to Brown’s service and contributions to the college, he supports ĢƵios Bloomington with two endowed scholarships in his late wife’s name:

  • The Patricia P. Brown Early Childhood Education Scholarship
  • The Patricia P. Brown Elementary Education Scholarship

Together with Patty, Brown felt creating a pipeline of passionate, committed educators of young children was a priority for our community.

In addition, the ĢƵios Bloomington campus would not exist in its current location without Brown’s support. His generosity was instrumental in relocating the campus from the Westbury facility to its current location on the west side of Bloomington. The state-of-the-art building, completed in 2002 and expanded in 2015, supports the education and training needs of communities across eight counties.

Brown is founder of Bill C. Brown Associates, an award-winning agency serving over 11,000 clients and over 250 groups. He is the recipient of two Lifetime Achievement Awards from OneAmerica and the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. He has served on several community boards.

The ĢƵios Foundation annually honors an individual, corporation, or foundation that has changed the lives of our students and the communities in which they live, learn, and work by providing exceptional philanthropic and volunteer leadership. This award celebrates the gifts and volunteer service the recipients have bestowed on the college.
