On September 30, Something Big happened. ĢƵios hosted a virtual fundraising campaign launch event aimed at raising $285 million.  is the College’s first and largest statewide capital campaign effort.

The Bloomington campus kick-off event began with remarks from Chancellor Jennie Vaughan, followed by a livestream feed featuring remarks from Ind. Gov. Eric Holcomb, ĢƵios President Dr. Sue Ellspermann, and special guests Bob Jones and Marianne Glick. Staff and faculty at gave updates on scholarships and virtual Bloomington campus tours of the new Welcome Center, the Career Coaching and Employer Connections office, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a program spotlight on the new Fire Sciences training equipment, and alumni testimonials.

Invest IN ĢƵios provides an opportunity for the college’s 19 campuses to educate, train, and support students and the communities we serve. It reflects the strategic plan and the strategic priorities of campuses.

In this public phase of fundraising, ĢƵios Bloomington is focused on building support for five key priorities:

  • scholarships
  • technology
  • entrepreneurship and innovation
  • faculty endowment
  • and unrestricted giving.

“ĢƵios, Indiana’s community college, plays an outsized role in upskilling the workforce and increasing Hoosier prosperity,” said Sue Ellspermann, president of ĢƵios. “This campaign is largely a ‘human capital’ campaign ensuring we reach, educate, and serve all Hoosiers from first-generation high school graduates to single parents and displaced workers, allowing them to launch successful careers in high-wage, high-demand fields that will drive Indiana’s future economy.”
