Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios registration open for classes at Orange County Learning Center

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios registration for Spring Semester is open, and classes at the Orange County Learning Center at Springs Valley begin Monday, January 14, 2013.

Students can earn credits toward an Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios Associate degree by taking classes close to home at the Orange County Learning Center. Courses offered in the spring semester include English composition, algebra, psychology, sociology, new student seminar, and public speaking.

Short-term training courses will also be offered. Courses include Microsoft classes: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access; Social Media for Business; Introduction to Computers; Computer Concepts; Photoshop Elements 8; and ServSafe Food Safety.

Social Media for Business is a new class offering in Orange County. Students will learn about the many applications of social media, and how to utilize social media as a business professional. Class topics will cover all major social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and also discuss how niche sites can be just as important. Students will create profiles on the major social networks and learn how to promote themselves as an individual, as well as their business.

Non-credit personal enrichment classes will also be offered at the Orange County Learning Center. Classes include: Watercolor: Give it a Try!, Growing Mushrooms for a Gourmet Garden, Photography: Digital Artistry, and Containers, Pots, and Planters.

Non-credit classes will also take place at Burton-Kimble Farms, located just 2 miles east of downtown Orleans in Orange County. Classes include, Dinner for One or Two in a Snap, Warm up with Soup, Cooking Ta-do at the Farm, Sweet Stuff: Cookies, Cakes & Goodies, and Preparing for Drop-in Events.

The Orange County Learning Center at Springs Valley is located at 479 S. Larry Bird Blvd. French Lick, IN. For help applying to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios or registering for classes, students can drop in without an appointment. Currently, the Orange County Learning Center office is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from Noon to 1 p.m. The office will be closed December 21 through 30. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵios-Bloomington opened the Orange County Learning Center in January 2012 to provide easy access to higher education and workforce training in Orange County.
