Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios’s Bloomington campus will honor veterans and their families on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11 starting at 8:30 a.m. The opening ceremony with the National Guard, Congressman Todd Young, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios singers, Chancellor Whikehart and others, will take place on the main campus, in front of the building. The public is invited to attend.
Starting at 9 a.m., Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios will host a reading of the National Roll Call. Over 6,000 names of fallen U.S. service members, post-9/11, will be read aloud throughout the day by volunteers.
Additionally, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios Bloomington campus will commemorate veterans by holding a Holiday Mailing for Heroes campaign, a patriotic sidewalk chalk art contest, and a veterans panel discussion. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios will have a display of military gear on the second floor.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios Student Veteran Organization (SVO) is hosting a silent auction located in the main atrium beginning at 9 a.m. and will be held throughout the day. SVO is also hosting a coin ceremony in Lamkin Hall at 1 p.m., as well as a veterans display.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios’s Bloomington campus was named a military-friendly school in September 2011 by G.I. Jobs, the premiere magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges and universities nation-wide that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµios Bloomington’s main campus is located at 200 Daniels Way, on the west side of Bloomington.
