INDIANAPOLIS, IN – ĢƵios and Lilly today announced the launch of Lilly Scholars @ ĢƵios, a scholarship program primarily supporting first generation students and students who have overcome socioeconomic barriers who are pursuing credentials in quality, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or related industries.
The program aims to provide approximately 1,000 eligible ĢƵios students, or Lilly Scholars, with financial assistance and experiential learning opportunities that include summer programs and/or work study programs. The program will also support Lilly Scholars with customized education and training at the Lilly Smart Manufacturing Lab, a world-class facility which will be built to support ĢƵios Indianapolis with manufacturing certification and 2-year manufacturing degree options.
“Today, we are taking our partnership with Lilly to the next level with the creation of Lilly Scholars at ĢƵios,” said President of ĢƵios, Dr. Sue Ellspermann. “Lilly Scholars provides high school and adult students with a unique opportunity to leverage the world-class education at ĢƵios with an exceptional employer partner in Lilly and put their education to work in high-wage, high-demand careers that contribute to the growth and prosperity of our state.”
The quality and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries contribute significantly to Indiana's economy, providing high-paying jobs and driving innovation in areas such as biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, and medical devices.
"Today's announcements demonstrate the strong collaboration between industry, academia and government in Indiana," said Edgardo Hernandez, executive vice president and president, Lilly Manufacturing Operations. "Through our new academic commitment, we're looking to grow life sciences education in the state and foster a diverse pipeline of local talent to fill the new jobs created through our recent investments."
